The beginnings of the Augustinian Order in the Philippines: A bio of Fr. Diego de Herrera.

Herrera arrived in Cebu in 1565, was proposed to become the first bishop of Manila. In 1572 he left Manila for Spain and Mexico. Returning to the Philipines he was shipwrecked near the isle of Catanduaneswherethe natives killed him in 1576.
