A note on Lorenzo Lotto's Virgin and Child with Saint Jerome and Saint Nicholas of Tolentino.

"On the basis of costume and attributes, identifies the monastic saint at the right of Lotto's painting (ca. 1522, Boston, Museum of Fine Arts) as S. Nicholas of Tolentino, rather than S. Anthony of Padua, as has been accepted in previous scholarship. Notes that the figure's habit reflects Augustinian rather than Franciscan costume" (BHA).
