"Whose bread I eat". The song-poetry of Michel Beheim (c. 1416-c. 1474).
"The fusing force behind Beheim's poetry is Augustinianism, carried forth in the spirit of the 'Wiener Schule' (Heinrich von Langenstein, Nicolas von Dinkelsbühl, Thomas Peuntner), from which he drew a significant amount of source material. The influence of St. Augustine ranges from stylistic ideals, doctrinal matters, and the conception of correct sovereignty to a repudiation of the love song. Beheim thus contributes to the ongoing late medieval and early modern Augustinian revivals", p. 404.
