'Traces the history, 1298-1806, of the Scuola di S. Stefano, Venice and of the architecture, art and furnishings of the building (constructed 1432-1437) where this confraternity had its offices. (The Scuola was closely linked to the Augustinian monastery of S. Stefano). Hypothetically reconstructs the plan of the building, and the disposition of Carpaccio's cycle of the Life of S. Stephen (1511-1520) in the main room. (Carpaccio's paintings are now dispersed in various collections)' (BHA).
