Worldly ritual and dynastic iconography in the Bentivoglio Chapel in Bologna, 1483-1499.

'Study of Costa's painting in the Bentivoglio chapel in S. Giacomo Maggiore, Bologna. With special reference to the iconography and the portraits of the Bentivoglio family, and the relation between the paintings and worldly ritual in the chapel, which on several occasions was used by Giovanni II Bentivoglio to knight meritorious and loyal persons. Argues that both the iconography and the ritual served to propagate the princely and dynastic aspirations of Giovanni II' (BHA).
