La Pietà di Jacopino del Conte per S. Maria del Popolo: dall'identificazione del quadro al riesame dell'autore.
"Establishes that the Pietà in the Musée Condé at Chantilly, rather than the version now in the Galleria nazionale, Palazzo Barberini (Rome), is the lost altarpiece by Jacopino del Conte from S. Maria del Popolo. Reveals that it was commissioned 1548-50 by the heirs of Bernardino Elvino for the altar erected in his memory; traces the history of the painting in various collections following its acquisition by Angelica Kauffmann in 1787 as a work of Daniele da Volterra, and reexamines Jacopino's oeuvre in the light of this rediscovery" (BHA).
