La rappresentazione dell'Incoronazione della Vergine Maria e l'iconografia di "tipo veronese".

About 1400 the iconography of the Coronation of the Virgin was renewed by including the Trinity. The dominant figure of the Eternal Father characterizes the so-called "north-Italian type", Christ is showed as mediator and Mary symbolizes the humility. It seems to have been conceived by the Austin Friars of Verona. During the Great Schism this Order was deeply engaged in the fight for the Roman pope and the unity of the Latin Church, for which the image of the Coronation of the Virgin is used as a symbol for the " unitas Ecclesiae". The interpretation is based on texts of St. Augustine as collected by Augustine Trionfo and later completed by Bartholomew of Urbino in the Milleloquium S. Augustini. The fresco in the church of S. Eufemia, Verona was discovered in 1969, taken from the wall, and restored. It is ascribed to Martino da Verona and preserved in the same church.
