"Publishes documentary evidence confirming Zeri's reconstruction of a dismembered five-part polyptich (Central panel, Madonna and Child, Berlin, Staatliche Museen) dated 1481 and his attribution of it to the Master of the Gardner Annunciation, whom he identified as Piermatteo d'Amelia, as well as Todini's suggestion that it was originally in S. Agostino, Orvieto. The evidence casts light on the financial plight of the Augustinians of Orvieto and on Piermatteo's relationship to the Opera del Duomo of Orvieto. Appendix with documents and records of payment, 1478-1481" (BHA).
