Un libro d'Ore francese nella Biblioteca Angelica di Roma.

'A French Book of hours (Roma, Bibl. Angelica, MS 459) is distinguished by rich ornamentation and 15 illuminated scenes at the beginning of the offices and hours. Preceded by a calendar in French, the office of the Virgin (in Latin) conforms to the manner of Rouen. The dedicatory illumination shows an enthroned Madonna and Child with two patrons, identified by their family coats of arms as Robert II de Boissy, a Norman knight, and Roberte de Calleville of Rouen. The two different stylistic trends that appear together in the MS are expressions of the cultural composite of Paris in the first decade of the 15th c.; one recalls the Master of Luçon or a close follower, the other betrays a Flemish provenance for the group in which the beginnings of the "Bedford trend" may be identified. The most likely hypothesis would suggest a date of 1406 for the decoration of the manuscript' (BHA).
