'Analyzes the iconography of early 14th c. frescoes in the chapels of S. Maria Maddalena and S. Agostino in S. Agostino, Fabriano; proposes that the representation of the miracles of S. Agostino reflects Augustinian opposition to the expansion of Ghibelline power following the removal of the papacy to Avignon in 1308. Prefers an attribution to the Master of S. Emiliano rather than the Master of the Urbino Coronation (Zeri's candidate); also identifies a document of 1311 as a possible reference to these frescoes' (BHA).
